Course enrolment, payment and cancellation terms

(We reserve the right to make changes.)

Enrolments are binding
Course places are personal and cannot be transferred to another person.
Our courses are for students aged 16 years or older.

The enrolment is made through Ilmonet.fi web service or by telephone at +358 20 692 444 from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm. New courses are published throughout the semester on Ilmonet. Follow our announcements.

Cancellation terms
You can cancel a course before it starts through the Ilmonet system if the course will start in 10 days or more. After that, cancellations must be carried out by contacting our Customer Service by telephone (tel. +358 20 692 444, opening hours Mon–Thu 12.30–3.30 pm) or email (asiakaspalvelukeskus@omnia.fi, with the subject line CANCELLATION).
You cannot cancel a course by notifying the teacher. Failure to pay the course fee or attend the course does not qualify as cancellation.
• You can cancel free of charge if the course will start in 10 days or more.
• If the course will start in 1–9 days, we will charge 50% of any course fee that exceeds €16. If the course fee is under €16, we will charge the full course fee. Weekend courses should be cancelled no later than 3 pm on the preceding Thursday.
• Cooking courses are also subject to a course-specific materials fee in addition to the course fee.
• YKI (National Certificate of Language Proficiency) Finnish language course + the including language test of €13 will be invoiced, if the test is passed.
• If the course will start in less than 24 hours, we will charge the entire fee.

Unemployment discount instructions
• The unemployed are eligible for a 50% discount on course fees that exceed €16. Courses starting after 1st August, 2020: The discount applies, if the course fee exceeds €14.
• The discount does not apply to courses with special pricing (ERI courses), cooking courses, Open University courses, qualification fees, copy and materials fees, OPH courses, YKI (National Certificate of Language Proficiency) Finnish language courses or level tests. Courses starting after 1st August, 2020: The discount is not applied on Open University courses, qualification fees, material fees, OPH courses, level tests, language trips or open learning environment fees.
• Unemployment must be proved before the start of the course, once per term. Submit the certificate of unemployment to the Customer Service by email in PDF format or by post. You can also present the certificate at the Adult Education Centre or at a service point of the City of Espoo.
• The only acceptable proof is a certificate of unemployment printed out from E-Services on the TE Office website www.te-palvelut.fi.
• Eligibility for the unemployment discount depends on the employment situation code determined by the TE Office.

Kaikukortti
• The Kaikukortti card is intended for the customers of social welfare and health care service communities involved in the Kaikukortti network who otherwise would not be able to use cultural services due to their difficult financial situation.
• With Kaikukortti, you can attend a maximum of one course per term free of charge at the Espoo Adult Education Centre. Family courses can also be attended together with a child.
• The scope of Kaikukortti does not include Finnish language courses or courses that are part of a qualification: general language qualification, Open University courses and basic art education, navigation courses as well as courses leading to a certificate, such as first aid courses and the hygiene passport as well as fees of open learning environments and some material fees.
• If the student does not attend to course enrolled, that will be considered as one free course.
• Holders of Kaikukortti can enrol for courses normally through Ilmonet or by telephone to the Customer Service of the Espoo Adult Education Centre tel. +358 20 692 444.
Please report your Kaikukortti number before the course starts and after each course enrolment by email at asiakaspalvelukeskus@omnia.fi or by telephone to the Customer Service of the Adult Education Centre. Terms of payment
• The term of payment of invoices is 21 days from the invoicing date.
• The term of payment of online payment links is 14 days from the invoicing date.
• In case you have queries regarding invoicing, please contact asiakaspalvelukeskus@omnia.fi or tel. +358 20 692 333 Mon-Thu at 13.30–15 pm.
• You will receive an invoice after the start of the course.
• Only the payer may enrol students who are under 18 years of age and only by telephone. We will need the payer’s complete information, including the personal identity number.
• If the payer is a company, we will need the business ID, invoicing address and the information of the company’s contact person. This must be mentioned during enrolment. The invoicing address cannot be changed afterwards.
• Unpaid invoices will be transferred to a debt collection agency.

Course fees
• The course fee depends on the number of lessons. Lessons are 45 minutes long unless mentioned otherwise in the course description.
• Invoices may also include copy, materials and test fees. A copy fee can also refer to electronic materials.
• The course fee for family courses includes one adult and one child.
• If you enrol for a course that lasts for a full term or school year half-way through the course, you will get a 50% discount on the course fee. (for the spring curriculum, the course fee is already reduced by halve.)
• Course fees are not refunded even if the student drops the course.

Course payment via an online payment link
• The online payment link will be sent to your email and you can use it to pay your course fee in your online bank. The payment link will open on Ilmonet.fi web service. “Continue to online payment” button will direct the payer to the website of the paying agent, that is Bambora.
• Check that your email address is correct in the Ilmonet.fi web service. You can also report changes in your contact information by email at asiakaspalvelukeskus@omnia.fi.
• If you do not have an email address, or if you do not use the online payment link, the invoice will be sent to your home by post or as an e-invoice.

Cancellation of courses and changes
• If a course is cancelled due to an insufficient number of participants, we will inform the students enrolled.
• We reserve the right to make changes in lesson locations, times and teachers. The course may be changed from face-to-face education to distance education.
• We will inform students of cancelled lessons or changes by text message, email or telephone, where possible. You need to have your contact details up to date in the Ilmonet.fi web service. Please inform us of any changes to your contact information by email at asiakaspalvelukeskus@omnia.fi or tel. +358 20 692 444.
• The customer service centre is closed on weekends, so information about course cancellation or changes may be delayed.

Cancellation of lessons and changes
• We reserve the right to make changes in lesson locations, times and teachers. Replacement lessons may be organized at a different time or in a different location. The teacher may also change.
• If the course lasts for the entire term, the cancellation of one lesson does not entitle students to a discounted course fee or replacement lesson.
• We will inform students of cancelled lessons or changes by text message, email or telephone, where possible. You need to have your contact details up to date in the Ilmonet.fi web service. Please inform us of any changes to your contact information by email at asiakaspalvelukeskus@omnia.fi or tel. +358 20 692 444.
• The customer service centre is closed on weekends, so information about course cancellation may be delayed.

Courses subsidized by the Finnish National Agency for Education (OPH)
• Courses marked with the OPH symbol are subject to the training subsidy of the Finnish National Agency for Education.
• The training subsidy is intended for those with a low level of basic education, immigrants, the unemployed, people over the age of 63, pensioners and persons with learning difficulties. Pensioners are persons who receive national, employment or disability pension and are not gainfully employed.
• In order to qualify for the lower training subsidy price, you must belong to the target group of the course. If you do not belong to the target group, you will be charged the normal course fee.
• The course information will state both the affordable training subsidy price (OPH) and the normal course fee.
• Students are accepted in the order of enrolment, but reading and writing instruction for immigrants requires separate application.
• OPH courses are not subject to the unemployment discount.

Payment with employee benefits
You can pay for courses of the Adult Education Centre with employee benefits at the service points of the City of Espoo.
Acceptable means of payment include the following sport and culture vouchers, cards or mobile payment:
Eazybreak, Smartum, Edenred and ePassi.
• Note: Employee benefits cannot be used for payment through an online payment link. If you want to pay with employee benefits, please wait until you receive the course invoice by post or as a bank e-invoice
• When paying at the service point, bring the invoice you want to pay and an ID.
• The means of payment are personal and cannot be used for copy, materials or test fees.
• If you want to pay using employee benefits, the invoice must be paid no later than on the due date.
• You cannot use the above means of payment to pay for the course if there is an (s) in the course information or if the invoice has been transferred to a debt collection agency.
• If you have received the invoice as an online payment link, please wait until you receive the course invoice by post or as a bank e-invoice. Employee benefits cannot be used for payment through an online payment link.

Insurances
We have not insured the students of the Adult Education Centre or their property.

Operating periods and holidays
There are usually no lessons during the autumn, Christmas and winter holidays, after 5 pm on the eves of holidays or on holidays.

After the course, you will receive a course feedback survey by email. Click the feedback link to fill in the electronic feedback form. The survey takes just a few minutes. The feedback is given anonymously and the link is single-use.
